How to cook frozen lasagna is not rocket science but it does take practice. If you can break lasagna down into several steps and follow the same procedures each step will take you only a few minutes. I have made this frozen lasagna several times using the same recipe and variations but the process of cooking took longer than usual. However, it is not necessary to spend a lot of time cooking frozen lasagna. When you do begin to make homemade noodles you will be amazed at how fast you can get them out of the freezer. If you can not spare more than a few minutes at a time to make homemade noodles you will want to purchase a pre-packaged set that has all of your ingredients.
Step 1: Prepare the Lasagna Base by mixing the flour, salt and baking powder together in a bowl. Then add the softened butter and fold in half. Do not forget to fill up the bottom of your container with the cooking mixture. This will help you when you decide how long to cook frozen lasagna ahead of time.
Step 2: In the next step, you will want to line a baking sheet with baking soda and then spray the bottom with nonstick cooking spray paint. Place the rolled dough in the center of the baking sheet and turn the rolled dough over so that it is fringed with foil. You will find it easier to bake this type of dish when the bottom is already lightly covered with the foil.
Step 3: After you have lined the baking sheet and sprayed it with cooking spray or paint, you are ready to start cooking your lasagna. Start by assembling the parts that come together as one and begin to roll the noodles. Once they are fully rolled, place them onto the prepared baking sheet and allow them to freeze for approximately three hours before you attempt to assemble them. If you find that the rolled noodles are too hard to work with, you can soften them by adding four or five eggs at a time to the noodles before you start cooking. When you want to start cooking, all you have to do is cut the wrapped noodles in half and place them onto the hot preheated oven.
Step 4: If baking the dish was done correctly, you should be able to see a faint yellow color on top. Once the noodles are bakes, turn the oven off and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Then, you will want to place the rolled noodles in your baking oven. You will want to bake the noodles according to their original packaging directions. Once they are fully baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire cooling rack.
Step 5: Once the noodles are cool enough to handle, you can remove them from the wire cooling rack and cut into the squares. If you find that the noodles are too large to cut, you can use a cheese grater to grate them into small pieces. These pieces can then be combined with the rest of the ingredients that you have purchased and cooked at the same time. You can cook the pasta and sauce at the same time or you can bake the lasagna ahead of time and heat it up while it is still on the slow cooker.
Step 6: Once your desired cooking temperature is ready, you are ready to assemble your delicious and fresh homemade meal. Unfold the noodles on top of the prepared sauce and cover the sauce with your hands. Push the noodles down and out of the pan or foil and allow them to sit for about five minutes so that the noodles can come to room temperature. Once they are all done, you can remove them from the cooking pan or foil and place them on a wire rack to finish cooking. You can cook your lasagna immediately or up the time you want in your convection oven.
Now that you know how to cook frozen lasagna faster, you might want to learn how to make some extra lasagna once the dishes are done cooking. When you are finished cooking the lasagna, you can make some extra well dressed pasta right on the same sheets that you used to cook it on. This is a fun and easy way to reuse leftovers and make your meal even more convenient. If you are not someone who likes to waste food, this is a great idea because you can put the leftover pasta in the refrigerator and use it as pasta for dinner the next day. It will also keep you from eating left over food the next night.
